I recently bought Rihanna’s new album, Unapologetic and I’m quite amaze….but more so at the depth of her lyrics this time around. The title truly sums up what one can expect from the songs on this album. Sounds like “Nobody’s Business” featuring Chris Brown I think is the biggest, “Shut the F*** up! I’m going to do me and not apologize for it!” song. Whilst, I do have the album on replay, I don’t think it’s her best album to date. Talk that Talk and Rated-R are my top picks. I do miss the girl in the sun theme, but I guess we all grow and change into the demands of our environments.
Before I get too carried away, let me return to the focus of this post – Half of Me. I think out of all the songs, interviews, articles and gossip about Rihanna, this song reveals her the most. We always run to jump on her and her choices or the choices that the media makes us believe, BUT we forget that she too is just another girl is this world looking for her place and trying to find love. The song makes us stop and realize that we all put on a show, we all try to make the world see us smile, when deep down inside, we’re in pain and trying to find a way out! Sometimes the things we see aren’t really what they appear to be. Take the time out and get to know the people around you. I’m sharing this because I know mainstream will probably not pick it up, but I think it has great potential. Hope you enjoy!
